Japan: Tokyo Day Two

On day two in Tokyo we had to decide what things we wanted to see the most as it was our last day there. We could have easily spent a week in Tokyo or more, there is such a lot to see. 

We visited another park filled with freshly bloomed cherry blossom trees. The amount of people picnicking to celebrate the opening of the cherry blossoms is impressive to see!

Cute little pastries in a local bakery, they were filled with a delicious custard. 

We then took the train to Senso-ji, which was also packed with people. 

On the walk up to the temple there are cute little market stalls selling all sorts of touristy things (at exorbitant prices of course). 

Clinton convinced me to try a local favourite, ichigo daifuku - it's kind of a sweet bread filled with bean curd and a fresh strawberry. I was pretty worried but it was actually quite tasty! Clinton enjoyed eating them on his mission. 

We then went all out tourist and took a rickshaw ride through the city. Our driver was lovely and a great tour guide.

Our rickshaw driver took us to a smaller park where tourists don't usually go, here is the Sky Tree in the background. 

Our tour guide fancied himself a bit of a photographer and made us take multiple photos from all different angles!

The Sky Tree, unfortunately we ran out of time and we weren't able to go inside it. 

We did have time for a quick donut though...don't ask what Clinton's is filled with! 

We caught the Shinkansen or the high speed bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto that evening at 5pm. It was such a smooth ride and the train was impeccably clean and right on time (like all public transport in Japan). Here is the view from the train window. 

Our hotel was conveniently located across the road from Kyoto Station. Inside the station there are restaurants with all sorts of food and a department store. We opted for sashimi sets for dinner that night and it didn't disappoint, so fresh and delicious.
