We took a taxi from Tenryuji Temple to Otagi Nenbutsu-Ji, a shrine filled with hundreds of carved stone statues. These statues represent the many disciples of Buddha. Unfortunately over time the statues have been destroyed by several natural disasters and have been rebuilt and moved in location over time.
You really need to stay a while to study all the individual faces and personalities of these statues.

This part of Arashiyama isn't very busy and we weren't able to find a taxi, the closest train station was a while away but we enjoyed the walk. There were so many pretty gardens and buildings to look at on our way.
