Tambrey Sports Carnival

A week before the sports carnival, Harrison had a bike accident. He was often riding on his own to school and this particular morning I told Sienna she could ride with him too. They were both really excited! About 15 minutes later I received a phone call from the school administration office telling me that Harrison had fallen off his bike and was quite upset. I drove there straight away and found out Harrison had skidded on some dirt and flown over his handlebars, except one of the handle bars had gone into his groin! Luckily it happened across the road from the school and some kind people stopped and helped him. Sienna was in shock by the whole thing! I told him he could come home as he was obviously in a great deal of pain. Then Harrison said he didn't think he could walk to the car. I wasn't sure what to do, but then the principal Mr Withers, happened to be there and offered to roll Harrison in his office chair up the path to the car! Luckily Mr Withers did this, as I had a look at Harrison's injury once we were in the privacy of the car and he had a huge gash in his groin area.

I drove him straight to the ER and tried not to panic! We said a quick prayer on the way there. I couldn't get hold of Clinton at work and felt helpless waiting in the hospital. They brought him through quickly and we were blessed to have a kind doctor treating Harry (you never know who you'll get at Nickol Bay Hospital). Harrison needed 6 stitches and a local anaesthetic. As I sat with him I had Alissa and Zara with me and Alissa started to say she was feeling sick watching it all. A nurse took her to another room to do some drawings. Then as I watched Harrison get his stitches, I started to feel light headed. I put my head between my knees and then felt like I was going to vomit! The doctor was unable to assist as he was in the middle of the stitches! He told me to lay on the ground - I did with Zara laying on top of me. I felt so useless, poor Harry was getting stitches and I was lying on the ground! He was even trying to comfort me! How embarrassing. Harrison was extremely brave though the whole thing and we got some McDonald's on the way home. He had the week off school and unfortunately wasn't able to compete in the sports carnival the following week (his stitches were still in). I was really proud of how brave he was through it all! He now has a decent scar where it happened and luckily no damage was done to his testes.

Here are some photos from the Tambrey Sports Carnival, it was held at Twilight again like the year before.

Harrison has a sad face because he wasn't able to compete!

The Pilkington's came and sat with us - it was nice because Clinton didn't make it until later.
Alissa's first proper running race

She won!!

I was a bit annoyed that Sienna had been put in last division with only one other girl! I think a race with two children is a bit weak.

Sienna didn't seem to mind though as she won!

Sienna didn't want to stay for all her games and considering Harrison wasn't in any events (and we knew there would be more sports carnivals next term at their new school) we went home early! I felt a bit frazzled at this sports carnival, trying to keep track of all the kids. I was happy to leave a bit early.

iPhone Photos in August

Some great family photos Clinton took from above with his drone in Exmouth

Out for dinner at Mantaray's Resort, the kids were surprisingly well behaved on their own table. Alissa came up to me at one stage and said, "I'm not here to have a sip of your drink or anything," she's so subtle. haha!
Zara enjoying her ice-cream
Some desserts we ordered in later, they look nice but they were terrible!
Breakfast in the morning
A Smore's Pie that Aunty made with the kids (it was delicious - I ate a lot of it!)
A photo of the kids dressed up for the school Book Week Parade - Alissa is from 'Where the Wild Things Are', Sienna is Sleeping Beauty and Harry, well, you should know who he is!
Alissa's kindy class lining up for the parade
So cute!

In August we had a big garage sale to try to condense our stuff to move. We'd never done one before and we weren't sure what to expect. We started at 7.30am and the majority of it was sold by 9am! We made over $1000 and we figured we would have thrown most of it away or donated it so that was a win! We'd do it again.
The kids had been asking to have a bake sale (lemonade stand) for ages and I figured it was great time to do it during the garage sale...they might actually sell some stuff. I made chocolate chip cookies and Amy's White Chocolate & Peanut Butter slice. It all sold out and the kids were very pleased!

FeNaClNG Festival 2017

I probably should have split this post into two as there are so many photos! I took plenty of photos using two cameras because I knew this would be our last FeNaClNG Festival. I still hadn't told close friends that I was leaving at this stage and it was hard seeing the Pilkington's and the Baker's and not being able to tell them! Clinton had to fly to Perth that weekend for work, he was invited to a Dockers football game with other managers. I was a little bit nervous about doing Fenacle without Clinton but luckily Tam and Will were still staying with us and they came along! The kids did jobs a couple of weeks before the festival and had their own spending money.

The kids first ride was this mini rollercoaster - you can see the changing expressions on Alissa's face. At first she was terrified and then she loved it by the end.

Next, a tub of fairy floss as big as your head.
Blue lipped Harry

Blue tongued Alissa and Sienna

Giant slushies at Fenacle are a must!
The girls both wanted a Hello Kitty showbag but it would have taken all the money they had saved. Call me a softie...or perhaps I was feeling sad about this being our last Fenacle (and I didn't have Clinton reigning me in! haha!) so I decided to buy the kids one showbag each. They were thrilled!
Aunty and Uncle Will also spoilt the kids by paying for them to play some games - like this pick a duck game.

One of the prizes

Another prize!
Zara with her prize, a fake barbie doll.
Uncle Will paid for Harrison to try the shooting game with him.

As soon as we arrived at the festival, I went to the umbrella tent to put the kids names down. They always book up really fast (as it's a free event and the kids love it) we were able to start after an hour. I tried to book the Pilkington's in too but they wouldn't let me book friends in.

Halfway through painting I realised my friend Erana was outside the tent doing a fitness demonstration with her gym. Impressive!
Back to the umbrella's and I apologise, I always take too many photos of this!

Zara happily watching

The finished products!
Then onto the dodgem cars...the girls had a great time riding with Harrison

Sienna's turn

Lunch time!
We met up with the Baker's and the Pilkington's and Harry, India and Michael went on this cool glider ride.

All the kids enjoyed this bungie rope ride

Some time with the Pilkington's - I appreciated them letting me hang around with my kids! It was easier in a group with the kids when Clinton wasn't there. Zara adores Amy and happily went straight to her!

They have a very sweet bond...I try not to get too jealous when Zara chooses Amy over me!

More dodgem cars with Michael and Tyler

The little kids watching!

Cute Lissy watching the action

I had to convince Harrison to try this swing ride, it was one of my favourites at his age. He was nervous but ended up loving it!

I'm sure Amy thought I was nuts taking all these group photos - little did she know we would be leaving soon and I was feeling very nostalgic.

The Pilkington's - we miss them!

Cute photos of Emily and Zara having fun together

Sienna after winning another little prize, she spent a lot of her money on games.

Harrison kept saying he wanted to go on the Gravitron - I wasn't so sure as I have bad memories of it making me sick! This is a before photo.
Afterwards...
Success! They loved it!

Toffee apples, hot cinnamon donuts, slushes, fairy floss...then home to eat more sugar from their showbags! Phew!
Alissa won this unicorn right as we were leaving, Sienna won a large puppy last year. They play a $2 match the number game to win them...they spent a lot of their money trying!

Another fun day out at Fenacle. We were all exhausted by the end of it! Tam and Will left earlier than us as it was pretty hot and a lot of walking for Tam. I'm glad we got to have one last one before we left and that I appreciated every moment of it. We'll miss this cute, country festival. It's very different to the big Royal Show's in Perth.
