Easter Saturday

On Saturday we went to Dampier for a picnic lunch and a swim. There is a playground on the beach there too, so the kids had lots of fun. Harrison saw this blow up boat at Coles and begged me for it! $20 well spent...he was in it for most of the afternoon. At the start he kept floating out to sea and Clint had to keep swimming in to rescue him. After a while Harrison got better at using the oars and steering the boat. Sienna loved floating around in it too.

 

 

Good Friday

It was so nice to wake up on Good Friday and not have any plans! No school, no work, no rushing...just a quiet, relaxing day of making and eating homemade hot cross buns, Easter cupcakes and playing with the kids. The kids woke up early of course (6am is the latest we can usually sleep in until) so I made my hot cross bun dough in the thermomix (super quick and easy) and then left it to rise while we walked to a nearby park for the kids to have a play (before it got too hot). My hot cross buns were so yummy straight out of the oven with butter!

 

Harrison and I then made some cupcakes to take to the Pilkington's house late that afternoon - they had an Easter party at their house. Grammie had sent the kids some really cute cupcake cases and cupcake toppers so I wanted to use them. The kids also made more Easter crafts from the stuff sent to them from Grammie and Aunty Bindi. They were seriously spoilt by Aunty Tam, Aunty Bindi and Grammie with amazing Easter packages. Aunty Tam sent Harrison some Lego and Sienna some princess dresses (because it's too hot to send chocolate here) - they were both super excited! Aunty Bindi sent all sorts of Easter craft stuff and little toys - my kids were in heaven,
they LOVE getting packages.



 

 

Meanwhile, as all this baking was happening Clinton was busy doing lots of stuff around the house, he's not really one to sit around doing nothing. Everything in the Pilbura is covered in red dirt so cement pavement turns a dirty orange colour. We have paving around our house that's stained orange so Clint decided to try water blasting it to make it look a bit cleaner. He was able to blast a tree picture into the cement!! Welcome to Ktown!

 

 

In the afternoon we went to the Pilkington's Easter party. We had a BBQ dinner and lots of yummy desserts. The kids played in a blow up pool and sprinklers and ran around together all night. Amy and Rifka organised a great Easter egg hunt too.

Easter Craft

As it's nearly Easter, we have started doing some Easter craft to get into the spirit of things! Grammie sent the kids Easter books filled with activities and things to make. Harrison has been having a blast making Easter decorations from these books. Grammie also sent some wrappers that you put on eggs and then put into boiling water so they stick. Harry liked blowing the egg yolk out of the eggs!!

 On Monday night we did a FHE lesson on Easter and discussed why we have been making Spring decorations and what an egg symbolises. We then read the Easter story of  how Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and then died on the cross and was resurrected three days later. We watched the video clip the church has brought out on the Easter story too. Harrison is really starting to understand the true Easter message and asked lots of good questions. Sienna on the other hand did what any two year old would do and mucked around through the whole of FHE. I didn't think she'd heard a word I'd said but wasn't too worried because she's still so little. Then the next morning Sienna said, "last night we watched a TV show about Jesus, He broke His body and His Mummy cried." I was shocked! I said, "then what happened to Jesus after he died?" She said, "oh...then He came back and He was happy!" I couldn't believe she'd understood that much when she was playing through the whole lesson. It has made me realise that children really do understand more than we give them credit for and even though FHE is often pretty chaotic it's worth it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yesterday after school we made some Easter egg shaped cookies - also thanks to Grammie! Harrison had his friend Michael over for a play and they iced the cookies and ate most of them!!

Sienna just ate, haha! They were yum. 

 

 

 

 



Bush Walk

Clinton took Harrison for a bush walk on Saturday afternoon to explore some of the Burrup Peninsula. It is a beautiful area with lots of aboriginal rock art, thousands of years old. They went to Deep Gorge, a spot with a lot of rock art, Harrison loved exploring with Dad. Such an amazing thing to be able to do - so close to where we live! Here are a few photos Clinton took, Harrison still has face paint on from the Easter Carnival. In the last photo there is a spider...Clint walked into it's web (luckily not into the actual spider) then stepped back and saw that monster! Creepy.

 

 

 

Easter Carnival

Yesterday morning Clinton went out spear fishing with a couple of guys from church. He loved it and is now very keen to get some gear and dad's boat! While he was out I took the kids to the 'Easter Carnival' at Karratha Baptist church. They had lots of little market stalls and things for the kids to do. I loved all the handmade stuff and went a bit nuts buying hair clips, headbands, a dancing tutu for Sen, a cushion for Harrison's bed, bunting for Sienna's room etc, etc. We met up with Candice and her girls there (as her husband was spear fishing too) and saw some other friends there as well (Karratha is such a small place, you bump into people everywhere). Here are a few pics I took on my iphone.
