Sports Carnival

On Friday Harrison had his school sports carnival. We all got into the spirit and dressed in Harry's faction colour - blue - and I sprayed the kids hair blue too. 

 It was a really hot day and luckily Amy brought a pop up shelter for us to sit under. Sienna played games and watched shows on my phone most of the time...

 She also enjoyed hanging out with Tyler and Emily

 Harrison did his 100 meter sprint in division one. I was so nervous for him...he wasn't to phased. 

 I was at the finish line and couldn't see the start of his race very well. Amy and her parents were sitting right next to the starting line and said Harrison had a slow start. Instead of a starting gun or horn they were using a whistle to signal the start of each race. I'm not sure if Harry didn't hear it properly or was just off with the fairies but he started behind the rest of the pack. 

 I noticed Harry was a bit behind a couple of kids and put my camera down to cheer him on

 Miraculously he managed to come first!

 Harry was then in a flag relay race, his team came second. 

 Alissa fell asleep in her pram for a while...winning!

 Instead of participating in athletics events like long jump, discuss etc the kids then play team games like this one and tunnel ball. I'm a bit sad they don't do more athletics events like they used to when I was in primary school. 

 We stayed for the sausage sizzle and Harrison came to our tent to eat with us. His best friends Michael and Toby came to eat with us too. Harrison is sad he's not in green faction with his besties. 

I then took the girls home to escape from the heat! Amy kindly brought Harry home then he had little athletics at 5pm. Poor kid was a bit exhausted and only three boys in his age group showed up as most schools had their carnival that day. We then went out for dinner with Bryan and Amy (Amy's parents are visiting and her Mum babysat my kids while her Dad babysat hers). It was very nice to have a night out without our kids! I was so proud of Harrison's efforts at the sports carnival, he did a terrific job!

Going on a Whale Hunt

We have been waiting for decent boating weather for weeks...whales are around this time of year in the Dampier Archipelago and we have been keen to see them again. Last Saturday the weather forecast still wasn't perfect, it was predicted to get quite choppy but we thought we'd brave it and go out anyway. Our friends the Rodoni's thought they'd take their boat out too and try to see some whales. Once we'd launched the boat we found the ocean wasn't that rough, it was really nice. It was only a short boating trip as it was a busy weekend and we had to get home by lunch time...however we managed to spot quite a few whales.

ZAC POWER

Last week it was 'Book Week' and on Friday the children were allowed to dress up as their favourite book characters and join in a parade. Last year Harrison went as Harry Potter and this year he wanted to go as Zac Power. He has read most of the Zac Power books and thinks he's a really cool character. Zac Power is a child spy working for the GIB as an undercover secret agent.

Clinton made Harrison's GIB tee-shirt using our Silhouette cutter to cut out the letters then iron them on. 

 We also made him an official GIB special agent card

 Zac Power always had a backpack full of gadgets and Harry's was a parachute too. 

 It turns out there was another Zac Power in Harrison's class, they stuck together during the parade. 

Chilli Fest

A couple of Saturdays ago, we went to the annual 'Chilli Fest' in Point Sampson. We got there just after 11am when it started and it was already difficult to find a parking spot. By the time we left an hour and a half later there was a huge line to get in. There were lots of tents set up with  homemade chilli taste testing. Some of the chilli's were hotter than others...Clinton and I didn't sample them as the lines were huge and Clinton doesn't like eating food from some random person's kitchen! It was hot when we arrived so we got the kids an ice-cream....

 We then bumped into Jacqueline, the Rodoni family, the Palangi's and Christian and Louise. It turned out Christian was going to perform with his brother in the next ten minutes. So we sat down to eat our ice-creams and listen to the music with the Rodoni's.

 Somehow Alissa got her hands on my soft drink and wouldn't give it back!!

 The kids had a quick play at the park together and then we headed home...Clinton and I had been gardening that morning and we wanted to get some more done.
