After visiting the bamboo groves we went next door to visit Tenryuji Temple which was first built in 1339. It was still early enough that it wasn't too crowded.
The architectural features on these buildings were stunning and so well cared for. All the grounds and gardens were immaculate too. Some parts of the building had been re-built after fires however the garden remains in it's original form. 
We had to take our shoes off and stay on guided tatami mats to help preserve the building.
Imagine living here decades ago and looking out on that sculptured garden.
Not all the cherry blossoms were in bloom but we were able to catch a glimpse of some of them. I love the pink ones.
Practising my meditation...
After looking through the temple we wandered the gardens...so many species of plants and flowers. Clinton was pretty good at naming them all too.
I hope you're not getting too sick of cherry blossom photos...
It was such a stunningly beautiful place and we were finished by about 10am - straight on to the next place!
