Zara is growing up so quickly, I feel like I blinked and already she's five months old. I am trying to enjoy every cuddle and bask in every smile and sweet baby chuckle. Anyone who has met Zara will tell you she is a happy baby, always willing to smile at a stranger and hardly ever grumpy, even when I'm carting her around on our crazily busy schedule. She is constantly being woken up to take children to school, pick them up, go food shopping, piano lessons, athletics, play dates, gymnastics, church...the list goes on. In spite of this, she'll offer me a tired smile as I wake her up earlier than she'd like and often feed her later than she would wish. I guess that's the life of baby number four. Hopefully this will lead to a very relaxed, go with the flow personality type (one we could desperately use in this family!).
Zara randomly rolled from front to back, back to front on the 30th of April in Perth (as I was the only witness to this, Clinton has his doubts that this actually occurred). It's safe to say this preliminary roll was a fluke as she didn't do it again until the 2nd of June. She's now confidently rolling around the floor and I have to be more careful with leaving her on beds and change tables...bummer, it's so nice when babies are safely stationary all the time.
Zara is very curious about food...and I'm very lazy and have put off making her baby food until she turns 6 months. She's still fully breastfed and feeding every three to four hours.
My only gripe is that Zara is waking up for feeds every three to fours hours (sometimes every 2 hours) during the night. All my other babies were sleeping through the night by this stage. Although I'm a walking zombie with overly emotional tendencies, I'm kind of happy to indulge these late night feeds. I'm so busy during the day that these quiet moments with her on 'nightshift' are like our special one-on-one bonding times. She is definitely my last baby which means I'm in no rush to see her grow up! I mean, seriously, look at that face...
