School Holidays Continues...

Somehow we have managed to make it through another week of school holidays. Trying to keep Harrison "busy" is always a challenge...like his Dad, he gets bored very easily. He loves a project - even if it's just windexing the windows for me! So here are a few things we got up to this week in an effort to keep Master H busy! As you can see, we did take advantage of the slower mornings and stayed in our pj's for as long as possible, hence all the photos of Harrison in his pj's.

 

 

Chalk drawings on the pavement, it kept Harrison and his bestie Michael entertained for ages!

 

Painting on canvases - Harrison decided to paint a vase with flowers for me (very sweet).

Box Construction: I went out to the washing line, came back, and he'd made a boat! 

Clay modelling - Harrison copied his violin (Sienna later smashed it, much to Harrison's dismay)

300 piece puzzle, done over a few days. He didn't want me to help because he wanted me to post on my blog that he did it all himself. He did it all himself.

Phew...only a few days of holidays left...luckily we are going to Perth next holidays so there will be more to do! It was hard this holidays too because Clinton was working crazy hours and then he went to Perth for a few days. We can't wait for Grammie and Papa to come next week!!

Helpful Harry

 

Last night I mentioned in passing that I needed to get the washing off the line. A few minutes later I found Harrison on a step ladder getting the washing down for me! He is such a kind-hearted, thoughtful boy. He loves helping me with jobs like vaccuming or doing the dishes. Every morning before school he waters the vegetable patch, makes his bed, tidy's his room and practises the violin. Often he's finished all his jobs and is ready for school by 7.30am (it helps that he wakes up at 6am). I think I take his helpfulness for granted sometimes...I love him so much and hope he stays his happy, helpful self forever!

Deep Gorge

 Just a few photos I took on Saturday afternoon - we met Clint after he finished work and went for a little walk near deep gorge in the Burrup Peninsula. Harrison was very excited to show me all the aboriginal rock art. 

 

Sienna really wasn't in appropriate attire for bush walking and rock climbing...we went straight from a baby shower and I didn't even think to change her.

I asked Clinton to take a photo of me with Alissa as I don't really have any photos with her yet! I think the sun was too bright so she didn't want to look up.

 



 

Ok...I couldn't stop myself, I had to take some photos of the scenery. This area really is stunningly beautiful and I'm so glad that we are experiencing a side of Australia many people never get to see. I love the long, wild grass in contrast to the rich, red piles of rocks and the bright blue sky.

Anzac Day

Clinton has been working really long hours lately so it was nice to have him home on the Anzac Day holiday. In the morning I made Anzac cookies and Sienna, watching me making them commented, "you're making Anzac cookies out of porridge? Awww....yuck!" Haha! Well despite her reservations, Sienna managed to eat a fair few cookies throughout the day!

Harrison told us that he had learned about Simpson and his donkey at school. I was able to tell Harrison that his great, great grandfather served in Gallipoli and was wounded and carried on Simpson's donkey to the hospital tent. It's wonderful that Harrison is at an age where he can learn about his ancestors and their sacrifices in WWI and WWII. The school also had an Anzac Day assembly with a poppy wreath from each class to commemorate the diggers.  

 

We then decided to go to Point Samson again for a BBQ and a swim. It was pretty humid and hot by the time we got there so we quickly ate our sausages and headed to the beach. Alissa had her first swim in the ocean and screamed the whole time. Normally I think she'd love it but she was tired and hot and bothered. So I lay her under the shade tent and she promptly fell asleep. It was low tide so the kids could run a long way in with the water only reaching their waists. We found hundreds of tiny hermit crabs (Harrison called them "herman crabs") all over the beach. The kids loved watching them and picking them up.
