School Holidays Begins

We have survived the first two days of school holidays. Harrison has always had a busy little personality and from 6am every day he is up and ready to go! (It's just a shame I am not a morning person). So it takes quite a bit of effort to keep him entertained during holidays. This is what we have got up to over the past two days, yes, I have taken lots of photos!

Tummy Time

Alissa doesn't love 'tummy time', I admit that I am a little slack with poor number three when it comes to tummy exercises. Slowly but surely her neck is getting stronger though! She is such a sweet little bub.

 

Gecko City

In Karratha we are surrounded by insects, reptiles and birds. The birds around our house like to sing, my Mum commented that it sounds like 'The Hunger Games' mocking jay singing outside. When we first arrived there were heaps of frogs outside. When I opened the back door on our first day in the house, a frog fell on my head! Once the rains stopped, the frogs disappeared but the lizards remain. We have a funny lizard called a 'ta ta' that runs super fast on its hind legs....I've tried to get a photo but it's very quick. Clinton sees massive goannas out of his window at work, slowly walking past. But it's the geckos that are everywhere! There are tiny geckos all through our house and everywhere outside. I'm ok with geckos...if my house was full of spiders it would be a very different story! Harrison is loving seeing insects and lizards everywhere...  

 

 



Clinton's Birthday

Clinton had to leave for work early on his birthday so we decided to save his presents for after work. Harrison thought Daddy needed to have a "surprise party" after work so we bought some balloons to decorate. Sienna sat with a pile of balloons and tried with all her might to blow them up! She then gave them to Mummy covered in spit and said, "you do it Mum". Nice! 

 

 Harrison managed to blow up the bulk of the balloons all by himself. After blowing up about 8 of them he said, "I don't feel so good Mum". I told him to go and sit on the couch and rest his lungs a bit. He sat on the couch but continued to blow up balloons...he really wanted Daddy's night to be special.

 Alissa sat in eager anticipation for Daddy to come home...or in eager anticipation for her next feed...who knows??

 Harrison waited outside for at least 15 - 20 minutes for Daddy to come home. He then told Daddy to close his eyes and led him to the kitchen and yelled "surprise!"

 These aren't the best photos because I was half way through cooking dinner so I was snapping photos and cooking at the same time! Harrison gave Daddy a pair of diving gloves - perfect for spear fishing. They fit perfectly and Daddy loved them!

 Sienna unwrapped her present to Daddy (chocolate) and then ran off and hid the chocolate. Later we bribed her with birthday cake in exchange for Daddy's present. Sienna doesn't quite understand why she doesn't get a present on someone else's birthday...and hey, it's chocolate!

 Daddy's shark shield - he kind of knew this was coming because the package got delivered when he was home and he guessed what it was. All of Clinton's family and my family put in for this gift (they are expensive). Thank you family, I feel much better about Clinton spear fishing with a shark shield!

 Now this present Clinton wasn't expecting. Trent gave me the idea to buy Clint the latest Go Pro - a mini high definition video camera you can use underwater, on your mountain bike, while water skiing, surfing etc. He was really excited about it! 

 I wanted to make Clinton his favourite dinner but he couldn't think of a favourite. I suggested lamb rack and he agreed saying he loves it. So I made roasted lamb rack with herb roast potatoes, balsamic cherry tomatoes, maple glazed baby carrots and a red wine jus. Clint said he loved it!

 Apparently Sienna loved it too!

 I made my Mum's 'glossy chocolate cherry cake' with chocolate ganache for Clinton's birthday cake. It was really yummy...I'm still eating the left overs today....

Happy birthday Clinton, you are such an amazing father and husband. We feel so lucky and blessed to have you in our lives. We hope you had fun at your "surprise" party! xxo



Scooter Girl

It has taken Sienna a while to understand how to ride a scooter. As you can see, she still rides it with the handle bars back to front half the time! We have a cement path running all the way around our house so the kids open the gates on both sides and ride around and around the house on their scooters and bikes. I can watch them from the windows inside, it's great!

 

 

Cooking with Harry

Harrison really enjoys cooking with me and usually asks if he can help me (especially if I'm baking). This dates back to when he was a little toddler...he'd see me cooking and pull up his "helping chair" to the kitchen bench. He knows how to cook scrambled eggs ( thanks Aunty Tammy), fried rice, meatballs and spag bol. So I thought, why not start writing down the recipes of things we make together? Then he has a little recipe book filled with recipes he cooked growing up...hopefully this will help prepare him for his mission and marriage! I'm so grateful that Clint knows how to cook, he helps out in the kitchen all the time and is a great example to Harry.

 

So far most of the recipes in Harry's book are baked goods like cookies, cakes and slices. We'll add some mains in there soon. Harrison is looking forward to Grammie and Aunty coming to visit because they cook with him too. Grandma also likes to cook with Harrison so he has lots of people teaching him....hopefully one day he can cook for the whole family! Yay!
