We arrived at Kate's house in the afternoon and dinner preparations were already underway. No one had thought about decorating the dinner table and luckily Lisa saved the day with a last minute table setting. She went outside and cut some branches and somehow pulled this together! She's amazing!

Grandma gave each grandchild a special bag with gorgeous colour coordinated trinkets from Hong Kong. It must have taken her ages to put them together and the kids loved it!
Mum and Dad also got each couple a special 'Chinese Pillow Box' and they wrote these words;
"For hundreds of years, many Chinese stored treasures in pillow boxes. If danger arose during the night, the valuables were close at hand. Should the owner have to flee, he or she could readily take the treasures along for safe keeping.
We hope you enjoy this pillow box and want to keep it close at hand.
The greatest things in life cannot be purchased. Treasure that which is most important. "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."'

Inside were little trinkets that symbolise our beliefs and values as members of the church. It would have taken Mum ages to find all those special little things and write about each one. We will treasure our pillow box for years to come!
We had a lovely Christmas and felt blessed to have been able to celebrate with both the Snow and the Meurs families. The kids were ridiculously spoilt but hopefully they took in some of our lessons about the true reason we celebrate Christmas - the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
