Wash the Dishes

Sienna loves to copy what Mummy or Daddy or even Harry is doing. She'll mimic things I say (sometimes not such a good thing), pretend she's doing what I'm doing (like breastfeeding her dolls) and want to help with whatever I'm up to...in this case, washing the dishes.

 

Sienna is OBSESSED with water and playing with it. She'll often ask me for a cup of water and then I find that water tipped into other containers, or toys or even my handbag! So before we had a dishwasher in this house, she'd see us washing the dishes by hand and then she wanted to have a turn. I would end up with water all over the bench and all over the floor...but she was having a blast!

 

 

 

Go Karting

Harrison and Clinton went go karting with the Pilkington's yesterday afternoon. Bryan fixed up an old go kart and mini motorcycle so they took it out to the mud flats for a spin! Amy took these photos of Harrison and Clint, thanks Amy! Harrison is now saving his pocket money to buy a go kart (at $4 a week that could take a while! haha!). They had a lot of fun!

 

BMX

Harry has always loved riding his bike so, when we drove past the local BMX track he was really keen to check it out. They had an open day for kids to come and just give BMX a go. Clinton took Harry and said he was pretty cautious on the track - the hills are a decent size. Even so, Harrison loved it and was wanting to join the club. However, we had already signed him up for little athletics and that happens to be on the same night as BMX. He could still do training with the BMX club during the week though, just depends on how many commitments we want him to have. We'll see!  

 

 

Sunday Photo Shoot

I thought it had been a while since I'd taken any photos of Alissa so, on Sunday I took a few pics. After I'd finished Harrison said, "but what about my photo shoot mum?" So we went outside and took a couple of photos, then I thought I better take a few of Sienna...so what was supposed to be a couple of photos of Alissa turned into a "photo shoot" of all the kids. Ahhh...they drive me nuts sometimes but I really love them all!

 

 

 

 

Picnic @ Withnell Bay

On friday Amy and I picked up the boys from work and we all drove to Withnell Bay for a picnic dinner. Withnell Bay is only a couple of minutes drive from Clinton's work - in fact you get a great view of KGP from the bay. The kids had an absolute blast! Harrison and Michael were climbing on the rocks and wading in the water for the majority of the time. Sienna and Tyler sat on the sand and built sandcastles and then sat in the water as the tide came in. Alissa slept in the car (with the aircon on) the whole time. She'd had her 8 week injections that day and cracked it just before we left so after a quick trip to the chemist and some baby panadol, she was out to the count. My camera had run out of batteries so all my photos are taken on my iphone...shame, the sunset was beautiful. It was a really fun, relaxed evening - we'll definitely do it again.

Dampier and the Burrup Peninsula

Last weekend on Saturday we decided to take a drive to Dampier and have some lunch there. It was a beautiful day - we're getting used to the heat now- not feeling it quite so much! Here is a picture of the kids in Dampier.

We then drove to the Burrup Peninsula to see where Clinton works at Karratha Gas Plant. I couldn't believe how huge the plant is, it seems to go on and on. I also can't believe how far Clinton has to ride his bike to work and how steep the hills are (in the heat too).

Harrison was fascinated by the flame at KGP.

 

We then drove to Hearson's Cove, a beach very close to where Clinton works. The kids loved the opportunity to cool off and have a swim with Dad.



The beach at Hearson's Cove is made up of shells instead of finer sand. You really need to wear thongs when walking on it as it's pretty rough on your feet!

 

Then on the way home Clint suggested we get a photo of the kids on the salt flats because they look like snow. There are some sculptures on these particular salt flats - like this one that says 'Karratha'. Not sure if we were allowed to walk on them but it made a cool photo!

 



 



 

On the way in and out of the salt flats the ground is thick with red mud - that is very spongey and we discovered you can sink into it (it's boiling hot too). We had a bit of laugh when one of my feet completely sank, instead of helping me, Clint took photos of it! Haha!

Harrison's ingenious plan to wrap nappy sack bags around his muddy feet to not get mud through the car...it actually worked quite well. As you can see, Sienna conked out on the way home, it was a very fun and busy day.

 



Tiny Toes

Sienna has started a dance class on Tuesday mornings called 'tiny toes' through DeckArts Dance Studio. It is for 2-3 year olds, with lots of little girls in pink tutu's! They start with a warm up, then stretches, then some very loose little rountines. Sienna tries to copy the teacher but then gets bored of following and just starts dancing her own way! She absolutely loves it! Her friend Lucy from church is also doing the class which makes it even more fun.
