Before we left Karratha, Clinton saw a deal with cheap flights to Singapore from Perth in March 2018. We often saw these good deals come up but by the time we factored in flights from Karratha to Perth, it wasn't a cheap trip any more. We decided to book these flights as we were moving to Perth but we didn't tell the kids. We kept the surprise until the evening that we were flying to Singapore. Just before dinner we said, "Surprise! We are going on a holiday to Singapore...tonight!" Harrison was the most excited because he understood that this was an overseas holiday! The girls were jumping up and down and then Sienna said, "but what is Singapore?"
We tried to get the kids to have a sleep before we left but they were too excited. Our flight was at midnight on Wednesday and we drove ourselves to the airport. Unfortunately, just before we parked the car in the long term parking, Zara threw up all over herself. I did my best to clean the car and her carseat with wet wipes. Then I bagged up her soiled clothes and stowed them in the car (to deal with when we got home, gross). Luckily, we were able to pull out some pj's from her suitcase and she didn't vomit again at the airport.
Here are the kids, excited to board their flight at the airport. Harrison kept saying, "I had no idea, I thought I was going to school tomorrow." The kids were amazing on the flight, they all ended up falling asleep and Clint and I managed a couple of hours too. Zara did one more tiny vomit on the plane which I caught in a vomit bag, then she went back to sleep.

We looked at accomodation in Singapore and it was very expensive for a family of six. We ended up using an AirBNB in an apartment complex. It had three bedrooms and extra beds in the living area, including a cot for Zara. Alissa liked this sports car bed.
We made the most of our first day in Singapore and took a cable car to Sentosa Island (located close to where we were staying). Here are the kids waiting for the cable car - they look pretty fresh after flying through the night.

Quick stop in Sienna's idea of heaven - The Reese's Chocolate Store
Then on to a day spent at Universal Studios (a very hot, humid day)
Zara spent a lot of the day doing this, she was still recovering from being sick the night before and not getting enough sleep.

We enjoyed our day at Universal Studios but went home a little early as the kids were pretty exhausted.
