Weekend with Grandma and Papa

Grammie left us on a Wednesday and then my parents arrived on the Friday night of that same week. We were really sad to see Theone go so it helped having my Mum and Dad arriving 2 days later. I picked them up from the airport at 6.30pm with two very excited, pyjama clad kids in tow. Harrison and Sienna stayed up while we ate our dinner - Clinton made delicious pork belly and crayfish cooked on the BBQ with a lemon butter sauce. We then had chocolate fondant cakes for dessert...I wish I had taken some photos.

Bright and early the next morning we packed up the boat and headed out to the islands. It was a beautiful sunny day and not too rough on the water. Our friends the Rodoni family met us at an island as they had just bought a boat and wanted to test it out.

Alissa promptly fell asleep on Grandma as soon as we got on the water, she clung to Grandma's shirt the whole time, cute!
Our set up on the beach...I guess no one told Alissa that those chairs were for the adults...

Alissa couldn't wait to get in the water, the only problem is trying to get her out again! Papa was very indulgent and stayed in there for ages with her.
Is that a water baby or what?!

 So cute!
Poor Papa would have loved to have a proper swim with the kids but he wasn't allowed to get his arm wet as he'd had stiches in his arm that couldn't get wet!

Our friends arriving on their boat, the kids were so excited to see each other!
Alissa got her hands on someone's drink

Gorgeous Milly - she's the same age as Sienna and they have a great time together
Clinton and Harrison had a little snorkel together
 More swims with Grandma

I had to cut the bottom of this photo off as Alissa lost her nappy...
 The nappy in question...

Sienna and Tom having a laugh

Alissa loves "washing" Harry's hair in the bath and thought the ocean was a good place to give his hair another wash!
Cute kids digging in the sand together
We got home from the boat trip at about 2.30, we had eaten hamburgers on the beach and a fresh crayfish that Emi's brother Zac caught for us. Once we arrived home we all relaxed for a while then later that afternoon Harrison showed Papa his go kart.

We then went out for dinner at the Blanche Bar. Alissa was hungry and didn't want a photo! We sat outside and the weather was lovely, it's starting to cool off at night up here.
Alissa did calm down though and got some lovely cuddles from Papa.
Special photos of Harrison and Grandma

The food was really delicious and the kids were very well behaved, I think they were exhausted by the boating so they didn't have much energy left!

Some rare photos of Clinton and I - we are always behind the camera

The next day was Sunday - all ready for church!
Mum and I - she's my best friend, I miss not living close to her!

After church the kids enjoyed playing with Grandma and Papa...Alissa discovered playing inside the laundry basket is fun!
Playing a board game with Papa and Grandma just before dinner and their flight home...

Harrison and Sienna came with me to drop off Grandma and Papa, there were tears on the way home (from the kids and me!) It was a quick weekend visit but we managed to pack in some lovely memories together...looking forward to our family holiday in September.

Last days with Grammie

Grammie left two weeks ago but it's taken me a while to organise the photos. We absolutely loved having her stay with us - she spoilt the kids and Clinton and I so much. Alissa was wandering around the house looking a little lost when she left and Sienna after dropping Grammie at the airport said, "I'm just going to pretend Grammie is still here and asleep in her bed". Harrison sighed when he got home from school to Grammie being gone and said, "why did she have to leave us?" She is very loved in this household! We can't wait for Grammie and Papa to visit us again in October.

Alissa enjoying a bowl of Grammie's mac n' cheese.
Grammie showed Harrison how to make mini donuts
 Harrison's milk moustache
 Being crazy for the camera!
Cooking the donuts in hot oil
Harrison dipping the hot donuts in sugar and cinnamon
They were SO yum!!!
Alissa said a new word when eating Grammie's donuts, "more!" She came up to me with a donut in her hand and said, "more" pointing to the donut in MY hand! She was pretty put out when I wouldn't share.
On the Monday night before Grammie left we went to Hearson's Cove to see the 'Staircase to the Moon' which just happened to be occurring over the next three nights.

Alissa loves people giving her food!

We love this scrunched up smile that Alissa does - it started when Papa Snow was staying with us last time!
 Sun beginning to set...
Trying to get a group photo...

 Alissa was having a ball!
Those little bottom teeth are so cute!

Hearson's Cove doing it's awesome colour show as the sun sets
Clinton and Harry walked for miles out to where the sea finally gets deeper

The clouds behind our car and picnic spot
Grammie made yummy mini quiches for dinner which we ate as the sun went down.
Clinton's photo of  the 'staircase to the moon' - it really is beautiful.
